The “Gator Grip” crank handle (manufactured by Joe and Linda Landwerelen / J & L Tool in Shelbyville, Indiana) was introduced and produced in the 1970s and 1980s as one of the first popular aftermarket power handles for fishing reels (such as ABU Ambassadeur, DAM Quick Champion and many more).
Origin / Production by J & L Tool: Production by Joe and Linda Landwerelen in Shelbyville, Indiana, began in the 1970s (approximately from the late 1970s, when they dominated the market for double paddle handles).
Discontinuation / Sale of the Brand: The fishing reel handle division was eventually sold to Brook Johnson in 2006 (and the company relocated to Bovey and Greenfield, Indiana, respectively), with the traditional fishing handles largely discontinued as major reel manufacturers had been fitting their own power handles as standard since the 1980s/1990s.
An exact end date for the production of the crank handle itself, limited to a single calendar year, is not officially documented in the historical records of J & L Tool, but it gradually disappeared with the advent of factory power handles in the late 1980s and 1990s.

Here’s the front of a rare original box for the Power Crank, the Gator Grip. I enjoy fishing with this early version; the rubber grip is pleasantly soft and the surface is textured. Really good grip!
This handle is, so to speak, the great-grandfather of all modern power handles.

Hier die Rückseite der Verpackung, mit der Montage Anleitung.
Here is the back of the packaging, with the assembly instructions.

This is what the crankset looked like mounted on a DAM Quick Champion 600B. Of course, there were different versions of the cranksets over the years.
